If you're not happy paying for all the little fees the phone company add on, Vonage is a good alternative. It offers all your modern day features such as unlimited long distance, caller id, voice mail, call forwarding, 3 way calling, etc for $24.95+taxes and some minor fee that amount to approximately $30 depending on your taxing jurisdiction. Other free features include maintaining your existing phone number and back up phone service should your internet service fail, which Vonage is ran through. The phone will automatically forward to a phone number of your choice should you have a brief interruption of internet service such as a power outage.
